C Major Scale Improvisation Exercise
It’s time to start improvising – and the easiest place to start is with the C Major Scale. Download the instruction sheet, which has two sets of notes to pick; the first pattern being the C Major Scale – and the second pattern being notes of the C Major Scale starting on G to G. Both these sets of notes can be played over the two chords: CMaj7 and Dm7. If you have a uke partner, get them to play two bars of Cmaj7 then two bars of Dm7 back and forth while you play notes from the C major scale over the top. You could start just playing the scale up and down – and then randomly select notes from the scale and see which sound good. We have provided a backing track with the chords so if you are on your own, you can play along.
