What does this mean?
If you find yourself at checkout and you receive this message:
email has already been used
this means that you have already used this email address for an earlier purchase and you will have to
- either log in using the Member Login item from the navigation menu OR
- use a different email address to complete your purchase.
Why does this happen?
If you have ever purchased a membership or a product on the Uko Ono website you will have had to use an email address. This then creates an account that holds key information about all the interactions you have with Uko Ono.
So every other time you go to purchase a product, for example, the Jams or the Bowie workshops, if you are logged in, the purchase will be added to your account and you will be in the flow to receive related information and updates.
IT IS PREFERABLE THAT YOU USE THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR ACCOUNT BECAUSE THEN THIS PURCHASE IS ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR ACCOUNT AND YOU WILL BE ADDED TO THE FLOW AND RECEIVE ACCESS TO APPROPRIATE INFORMATION, COUPON CODES AND NOTICES ABOUT UPCOMING EVENTS ETC.
Why is this?
The Uko Ono website has evolved into a membership and community website where everyone's ukulele journey is documented. It might be that someone starts by purchasing a private lesson and then goes on to attend a workshop and from there they join SUG and become a member and so on. To provide the appropriate information and support, whenever someone purchases anything from the website, a user account is created with the email address provided.
Occasionally someone enters the wrong email address or makes a spelling mistake causing this person to miss out on important information. For example, before a workshop, I might send out an email preparing everyone or there may be changes to the time or location. This person won't then receive this important email and may end up missing out.
In Summary
When making any purchase on the website, a Jam, Workshop or a class, LOG IN using your member's account first.
Reporting an Issue
If you are still having trouble with this and with anything on the website, please always use the request for support form on this page and provide as much information as possible.
Simply saying "it doesn't work" is not helpful but saying I got this [enter error] error, or "I got to the checkout and it kicked me out", is much more helpful and we can get on top of it ASAP
