C Major Scale
When people hear the word ‘scales’ they may have flashbacks to agonising piano lessons with cranky old teachers (or is that just me?). But scales are awesome and really great to practice so you get to know your way around your uke fretboard (your map) and can start improvising and picking out tunes in songs. The C Major Scale kind of stands on its own when it comes to fingering – using the first finger for the first fret, second for second, third for third and fourth for fourth fret and it’s the perfect starting point for scales. Make sure you download/open the sheet music below. Practice this often and it will truly improve your ukulele playing – yes, even your strumming. It’s magic – I can’t explain why – but it works!! If you want to find out more about scales and music theory generally – then check out the ‘Theory Extension’ online learning Module, available for purchase.
