A Kind of Hush

This is a gorgeous song by Herman’s Hermits, ‘A Kind of Hush’ that has some really interesting chords and chord progressions. It’s a classic example of how little ‘tips’ – like where to keep your fingers – can really make the difference when playing the ukulele. What seems like a bunch of ‘hard’ chords can be made easy by remembering where to place the middle finger, for example. We use two classic strum patterns in this song – ‘Island’ and then what I call, ‘this and that’, which is just down-up down-up down-up down-up, with the emphasis on the second and fourth beat of the bar (so soft and loud and soft and loud and etc). enJOY x
